Computational Biologist

About the company

Ailomics Therapeutics is a pharmaceutical R&D startup with a pioneering computational and experimental platform to discover novel targets and develop efficacious therapeutics for the diseases of significant unmet medical needs. Ailomics Therapeutics leverages patients-derived omics data and AI-augmented bioinformatics analytics to deeply understand disease biology and identify the targets that drive disease progressions. Learning from human disease biology, Ailomics Therapeutics develops high-translatability disease models to screen for and optimize functional molecules for therapeutic interventions. The human disease biology insights also enable Ailomics Therapeutics to discover high-precision biomarkers for patient stratification in clinical trials.

Position Overview

Ailomics Therapeutics is seeking a talented Computational Biologist to join our Target Identification Team to co-develop our computational platform for disease biology understanding, target identification and biomarker discovery. You will design and develop parts of the platform, help refine the overall platform, analyze patient data and propose new targets. You will also lead/co-lead longitudinal, multi-omics and deep phenotyping studies on patient cohorts. You have a track record of target identification and validation studies applying patient omics data analysis. You have a passion for deep disease biology understanding and data-driven drug R&D, along with strong independent thinking, learning and innovating capabilities, communication skills and collaboration spirit.

Responsibilities

    Design and develop parts of our computational target identification platform; help refine the overall platform if needed.
    Analyze patient data using the platform for disease biology understanding, target identification and biomarker discovery.
    Lead/co-lead longitudinal, multi-omics and deep phenotyping studies on patient cohorts, in collaboration with hospitals.
    Collaborate with biology and other relevant functions to refine target identification and selection strategy.
    Have the opportunity to lead technology/platform development.
    Have the opportunity to lead drug projects from discovery phase all the way to clinical trials.

Required Qualifications

    Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or a relevant field.
    A track record of expertise in Computational Biology, evidenced through scientific publications and, if available, impacts on target              identification and validation in the pharmaceutical industry.
    Demonstrated capabilities of analyzing multiple types of omics data (e.g. genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics); experience in              single-cell or spatial omics data analysis is a big plus.
    Demonstrated abilities of interpreting analysis results in biological terms and proposing studies to address biological questions.
    Solid foundation in mathematics.
    Understanding of AI/deep learning techniques is a plus.
    Passion for deep disease biology understanding and data-driven drug R&D.
    Strong capabilities of independent thinking, learning and innovating.
    A team player with good communication skills in both English and Mandarin.
